Technical Specifactions for World Wide Video
Please note that you need a relatively high computer performance for an
enjoyable show, as the system requirements for video transmissions are
quite high - especially if done in Java.
Bandwidth
For all videos you find here you need a bandwidth of at least 64 Kbit per second (ISDN connection). I
Operating Systems and Browsers
-
Windows
For Windows we suggest at least an Pentium III with 500MHz, 128 MB
RAM and the Internet Explorer 5.5 or later.
Video does not work under Netscape 4.x! (Netscape does not give enough memory to Java applets.) With Netscape 6 you won't have audio.
-
Linux
For Linux we recommend at least a 700MHz, 128 MB RAM computer and the
Appletviewer of the IBM JDK 1.1.8. Neither Netscape nor the
Appletviewer of Sun JDK work (no video, no audio). With Netscape 6
you won't have audio.
-
Mac
On Macs everything works using the Internet Explorer. With iCap
you have audio and video but no board.
-
Solaris
On Solaris machines the Appletviewer of the Sun JDK 1.2.0 works
but was unbearably slow on all machines we tested so far.
-
Irix
On Irix machines everything works fine using Netscape.
